“Give em’ something old and something new”

His heart on his sleeve, Maxwell Landry does his darnedest to live out his own lyrics. His eclectic mix of Laurel Canyon-esque singer/songwriter and country rock is accented by his 21st-century, lead-poisoned indie and alternative tendencies. Maxwell’s signature shines in all aspects of his artistry, from introspective and occasionally insouciant lyrics, to analog and lo-fidelity inspired production, with jazz-informed harmony and melodies refined down in New Orleans at top music school, Loyola University. His visual image and style is that of a well-traveled midwesterner who’s no stranger to the American South and West Coast. Whether in an honest piano ballad or the snarky twang of a guitar-driven rocker,  Maxwell always hits close to home with his familiar, universal artwork.

Maxwell Landry’s self-titled debut album, released in March 2025, serves as an homage to his favorite music from the late 60s and early 70s. The likeness of artists such as Carole King, Randy Newman, and the post-breakup Beatles can practically be heard singing on tracks like “This Ain’t Distance,” “New Pair of Glasses,” and “Help Me Out.”
